edit my drop down list in numbers 4.0.5.

I created my drop down (pop-up menu) months ago and now find that I need to add a few more categories to it. I use the + button under it and I can add it to my spreadsheet one time. when I go back into my drop down list the category I just added is gone. I know I have done this before but I cannot seem to remember how I did it. I don't see any option that says "save".

Thanks in advance!

Hi j'

If you have a pop-up menu cell selected and open the inspector to edit the menu list, the edit applies only to that iteration of the menu. To apply it to all other copies of that menu, you need to select all copies (or all that you want the new item added to), then choose Merge menus.

In the example, I've created a menu with six items, Item 1, Item 2...Item A, set all of them to Item 1, then entered Item B in a separate cell and set its format to pop-up menu.

I selected all cells, opened the Format Inspector, set it to Cell, confirmed the Popup menu format for all, then chose Merge menu items.

All six of the menus now include all seven items plus the 'none' item that they start with. All menus also remain set to the value they showed before the merge.

Barry
