Where do your text message go if you lost your phone for 2 weeks

IF ypu lost your iphone and itt took 2 weeks to buy another iPhone and you restored a new iPhone with an iCloud backup, where did all the text messages and emails go. The emails are restored, but the text messages?

iPhone 6, iOS 10.2.1

They would be in the lost phone or other devices (if you had them) that were signed in to the same Apple ID.
