Itunes and the new update

Hi,

I recently update the latest software version for my MacBook Air, the update has finished, but whenever I go to open iTunes it comes with with an error saying "the installed version of FairPlay is not compatible with this version of iTunes. Please re-install iTunes" this is very frustrating and I'm not sure what to do, can anyone help out ??

Start by attempting to reinstall the current build of iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.

Do you have the same error message as the original poster?

What version of OS X are you running?

When I try to reinstall iTunes, I have to have an administrator put in their name and password for it to reinstall. Is there any other way I can reinstall it. I had the same problem, which was when I tried to open iTunes I got a message saying "The installed version of Fairplay is not compatible with this new version of iTunes. Please reinstall iTunes." It won't let me uninstall it either. What do I do?
