How Do You Install ACES and Display P3 Color Profile on Windows 10

Hi. How are you? Some movies, games and video look more realistic in terms of color when they use the ACES color profile. Some look better with Display P3 which the iMac 5k take advantage of but it's not in the color profile of Windows 10.

How do you install ACES and Display P3 color profiles in Windows 10 (the very latest update).

Thank you. God bless. Proverbs 31

On the OS X side, these files can be copied. Here is a listing of the Display profiles for my specific Mac.

/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays/Color LCD-15008967-4FF1-F763-DF47-53684D4F1602.icc

/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays/DELL U2412M-AA21A7F4-E094-1654-25E2-9F7C3D0FE4BB.icc

/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays/DELL U2711-85FEA187-3E05-8924-BADE-19C2CE90E340.icc

/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays/Display-F3C8AA45-CBEE-E5CD-3A91-85161BA03F8 0.icc

/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays/Thunderbolt Display-E9F2E177-1AE2-5E16-C3C2-87208B347532.icc

The ones in System Library are

/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/ACESCG Linear.icc

/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/AdobeRGB1998.icc

/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/DCI(P3) RGB.icc

/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Display P3.icc

/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Generic CMYK Profile.icc

/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Generic Gray Gamma 2.2 Profile.icc

/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Generic Gray Profile.icc

/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Generic Lab Profile.icc

/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Generic RGB Profile.icc

/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Generic XYZ Profile.icc

/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/ITU-2020.icc

/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/ITU-709.icc

/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/ROMM RGB.icc

/System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/sRGB Profile.icc

You can check the MD5 after the copy, verify the integrity of the file and then test.

Hi. The converted XML doesn't work too. I think Windows 10 doesn't support ACES and Display P3 color profiles yet. I switched it back its default sRGB.

Thank you. It's shame ACES is a very nice color profiles (the highest range, it's even higher than our eyes- more than 24-bits). Flames and torches for example come close to how you'd see colors in real life, on this 5K iMac's 10-bit/HDR capable screen in games like Tomb Raider (even though it may not have used ACES when it was being created. I would bet Harry Potter movies which was used with ACES looks better though I've never really watched fully any Harry yet or Lord of the Ring- just bits and pieces).

I wish I could default ACES instead of Display P3 profile (no significant difference with the iMac profile) on macOS but most videos like youtube ones will lose details cause I guess most use sRGB. But for multi monitor setup it's nice to set one with ACES and one with Display P3, I take when editing movies/videos.
