iMac, iOS 10.12 Sierra
Click on this link https://p07-calendars.icloud.com/holiday/US_en.ics which will download the US holiday calendar to your Dowloads folder.
Double click on it to import into your calendar and you'll have all of the US holidays.
Try the following, open Calendar app and under Help Menu select "Find....."
This will open Safari, go to second page and click on download for US Holiday cal
This will ask to open Calendar, accept and you should see something like
then click "Subscribe" to add and you will see
Click OK to add.
Under red yellow green/calendars, there is no listing for US Holidays (for a check mark) in either iCloud of "Other". However in Calendar Preferences I did check the "Show Holidays calendar" box. The Accounts tab only shows "iCloud/CalDAV". This Calendar app is the original one coming w/ desktop MAC 2 + years ago. Downloaded Sierra yesterday. Just rebooted, no help.
I didn't realize Calendars was so complicated. Both iPhone SE and iPad2 have calendars (w/US Holidays). I tried sharing (w/myself) - no help. Used your link to subscribe to a holiday calendar, but don't know where to find the URL for one.........😟
I believe some others are also having issues enabling the "Holidays" calendar under Calendar Preferences, but not sure why. I have this issue and the old work around was to make sure your Preferred Language was set as "primary" and Region to you "country" i.e. United Kingdom for me - (under Language & Region of System Preferences).
This still doesn't work for me so I've had to subscribe to the uk holidays calendar issued by Gov.UK site (an ICS file), not as complete as the inbuilt Apple version but does the job non the less. Hoping a fix will come with the next update of the OS.

Just out of interest, is there a link for the UK version of "https://p07-calendars.icloud.com/holidays/US_en.ics", and if so is it the same as the "webcal://files.apple.com/calendars/UK32Holidays.ics" - the reason I ask is that I've noticed the uk webcal version displays a few slightly different events than the "inbuilt" versions for iPad/iPhone which I still appear to have access to - unlike the inbuilt holiday calendar for macOS Calendars (accessed via tick box in preferences) which just doesn't want to work on my system.
beside the red yellow green circles top left corner click on calendars that will show side bar make sure US holidays is checked off
I have Sierra and Christmas etc is still there

Make sure you're subscribed to a calendar that gives includes the holidays that are important to you.
I have Sierra and have no interest in Christian days off, so I don't turn them on.
