IOS 10.3 bricked iPhone 6s plus

I updated to IOS 10.3 and the update finished and asked me to sign in with my security code. After that it said something about having to do a few more steps and showed a “Continue” in blue. I clicked on the “Continue” and the phone froze. I tried to recycle it a few time and then clicked the off button to try and restart it and it has been bricked since. There is a small beep when I plug in power or hook up to my laptop but the screen remains black.

Hooking it up to the laptop, iTunes shows it has been updated to IOS 10.3 but I can't reset the phone without being able to go into the phone and turn off iCloud – catch 22.

UPDATE 2:

Finally got it back, I think, everything looks normal now. I had to shut down the phone again as it wouldn't process my password and when turned off and on would just resume the spinning icon trying to do so. I then had to make the choice to skip the password step in order to get the phone to go on to the next stage, merge the Safari and iCloud data, etc., and then it finally was done.

Hope this helps if anyone else is having similar hassles with this update. My wife is going to hold off on her iPhone SE a few days to see if Apple repairs/replaces the update as it doesn't seem ready for prime time. I've got a new iPad on the way too and will wait on it and the old iPad Mini – I don't want to go through this again.

UPDATE: After messing with it for an hour or so I was able to get it back (held down both home and on/off buttons together) to the initialization stage following the backup to IOS 10.3. I have now put my password in, responding to the prompts, but it has been several minutes and it is just showing a spinning icon, thinking it over? writing to iCloud? who knows. It seems to just hang up every couple of steps of the process – don't know how long I should wait for it to process my password, been over 5 minutes now. Will update if this stage progresses.
