Used to be able to blur image edge

It was a clunky workaround, but using the blurred picture frame on a black or white object would allow to blur the edge of an underlying image. That frame is gone in the new Pages — does anyone have an alternative?

Bummed that Apple would remove something that cost no other functionality.

You will have to return to Pages '09 v4.3 for the effect that you seek, or an advanced image tool that can dither the outer ring to less distinct banding.

The following was created in Pages v6.1 with circles, transparency, advanced gradient fill, and artful use of the combinatorial tools at the bottom of the Arrange panel. I could have used a different fill pattern in the outer ring to make it more diffuse.

IF you are able to add the border that you like to any image using Pages 09 and save the document. When you open it in Pages 6.1 you can use the 'style' that has been applied to the image on any other image (within that document).

FURTHER you can copy the image into a new document and its style will be retained... Yes, I agree it is another workaround but hopefully less 'clunky' than your own.
