Can I shape shift a line via Actions or Magic Move? It just fades :(

I'm trying to get a curved line to change shape. I can get it to build itself in rather nicely with Build-In > Line Draw, but there isn't anything in the Action menu that allows me to change its shape.

I then tried a Magic Move transition where I copy the same line to a new slide and then change its shape. When I test this, the line just fades and the altered line appears.

It doesn't seem to matter if I make the new line editable and change it, or if I leave the new line unchanged but simply alter the proportions of the rendered line.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

IF it is possible for you to create the 'line' you want by using a rectangle and initially making it very narrow (to give your line width) then adding appropriate points to curve it Magic Move will do what you want. (Sadly your Build-In > Line Draw will no longer be effective).

I'm not sure if Magic Move ever worked as you and I expect on lines but I have used the above workaround. Yes, it is tedious.

No worries, I found pretty much the same thing. I suspect that Keynote treats shapes as fixed objects (e.g., photos) for the purposes of any kind of animation, which limits transitions to scaling, moving, rotating, and opacity. If the shape changes from one slide to the next, Keynote may treat them as separate objects and thus fade the first one out and fade the second one in after the transition.

I might try to submit this as a feature request or as a bug to Apple.
