installing new epson XP-245 printer

I try to install a new epson XP-245 printer. My Macbook air cannot install it. I tried simply add the printer, but it did not work that way either. I contacted epson support, but they say I should just follow the instructions. I do not get to the instructions, because my Mac does not install it... Any idea how I should do? What I should do? Pls-pls-pls! I am already wasted two days on it!

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015), iOS 10.3

I had the same problem - and have fixed it by trial and error.

When you get the DMG from the Epson/SN site and open it you get the screen which shows 'double click' on 'Install Navi' (which should start the installer) . For me the installer appeared to open but then took hours and didnt actually complete.

TO FIX

Rather than 'double clicking' on 'Install NAVI' if you click on bottom right of the window and stretch it you will see four folders appear; Driver, Apps, Network and Manual.

1. Click on Driver > which shows sub folders Printer and Scanner. Click on each in turn and then click on the content files: EPSON Printer.PKG and EPSON Scanner2.PKG. This will launch the installers - follow the steps on screen to install.

2. Repeat with Apps> Download Navigate>Epson Software update. When you run through this it will check whether there is later version. You only need to do that once - it just keeps offering you to check again.

3. Repeat with Network> EpsonNet Setup and it will take you through the wifi etc setup.

You have now manually unpackaged the install files and carried out the installation which was not working automatically.

Hope this helps 🙂

Hi,

Make sure you have followed the Epson's setup instructions first, and that you have the printer connected to the MBA (USB? WiFi?), then try to add the printer in Printers & Scanners. If it still doesn't work, see if there is a printer driver you can download from Epson's website (even if they didn't mention it).

Indeed, that what I tried to do. As there is no more possibility to use the cd in my MacBook I downloaded the epson install navi (not once, and the last time from the epson support email, so that should be the right one). It starts nicely, but then it cannot install it, so I am not getting through. I tried to add the ip address of the printer to the printers, did not help either. I tried to connect the Macbook with the printer with a usb-cable, did not help. All video-instructions or others are just suggesting that I download the install-kit and follow the instructions. Sound simple. But it does not work. It just does not happen. I am frustrated, I am upset and I have no idea what I should do (now I can just throw away this bloody printer...and buy another one, but what if the same happens all the time???)
