volume switch is removed on new iPad?

first, apple is kind of stupid to name their latest ipad as iPad, when you mention "iPad" most people will just thought "iPad" and they dont know which particular model

anyway, just got my iPad yesterday, noticed that they removed the volume switch, then how can we turn off the vol immediately to silent especially it is locked?

The switch was removed with the iPad Air 2, almost 3 years ago. No iPad since has had one.

You use the mute icon in the control center for immediate silence.

You could use the Mute icon ( bell icon ) in the Control Center when you swipe up from the bottom of the screen to enable and disable Mute when the screen is locked.
