I have an ipad with old AppleId that was changed a long time ago. I want to reset the Ipad but need this old AppleID but Apple says no longer exists. How do I remove this from my ipad?

I am trying to give me daughter an iPad I owned. I want to remove the Apple ID on it which used an old email address. The email address was changed within AppleID some time ago and works fine on other devices. But I cannot get rid of this previous ID as Apple says it does not exist?

Hi. Check the instructions at this link: Change your Apple ID - Apple Support. You need to change your Apple ID from the old email to a new one that you can access. You may need your security questions. It should only send an email to the new address, not the old one. If that does not work for you, use the Support link at the bottom of the page I linked to get direct assistance.

Hi Kierm,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand that you're trying to remove your Apple ID from your old iPad but are unable to so since you didn’t sign out on that device prior to changing the email address associated with that Apple ID. Since you changed the email associated with that Apple ID account before signing out of all of your devices, the iPad is still signed in under the old email. I recommend checking out the following articles:
Change your Apple ID
Managing your Apple ID
Because it's the same account (username/email is now different) from the iPad go to Settings > iCloud > Sign Out. It will then ask for your password, go ahead and put in your normal/current Apple ID password and it will then allow you to sign out and remove that Apple ID from the device.
If the issue persists, then you can temporarily change your Apple ID back to the previous one:

Change your Apple ID temporarily

Use these steps to change your Apple ID temporarily:

  1. Sign in to your Apple ID account page.
  2. Click Edit in the Account section, then click Change Email Address.
  3. Change your Apple ID to the email address that iCloud is asking you to sign in with.
  4. Sign out of your account page.

Then sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:

  1. Tap Settings > iCloud on your iOS device.
  2. Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
  3. Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device], and enter the password for your Apple ID. Your data remains in iCloud, and is updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
  4. If you're signed in on more than one device with this Apple ID, repeat steps 1-3 on each device.
  5. Go to your Apple ID account page, and sign in again.
  6. Change your Apple ID to the email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
  7. Tap Settings > iCloud on your iOS device, and sign in with your new Apple ID.

If these steps don’t work, change your Apple ID temporarily again. Then sign back in to your Apple ID account page to make sure that your Apple ID was changed.

If iCloud asks for the password to your previous Apple ID
You can also check out the following article: What to do after you change your Apple ID email address or password.
Please feel free to let us know if this helps or if you have any further questions.
Cheers!
