How to move GarageBand project from iMac to iPhone?

Hi

in order to record vocals over mp3-audio track (karaoke) with iPhone I upload GB project in iMac to iCloud Drive. But GB in iPhone won't open the project "Because it is created in OS X -version of GB". Is this really a no-can-do -case?

All OS and software are the latest versions.

No, sorry. It is only one-way. You can open GarageBand projects created on the iPhone or iPad in GarageBand on the Mac, but you cannot send them back as a project, if you modified them on the Mac. GarageBand on the Mac has features that cannot be reproduced on the iPhone or iPad.

You could share the Mac project as an audio file to iTunes and sync the audio files to your iPhone, then add this audio file to a new garageBand project on the iPhone.

actully not. By doing the way instructed in the linked article you can import audio files into individual tracks using iCloud folder.

Yes, but the question is how to add a GarageBand project back to an iPad or iPhone, as a project, not an audio file. If you transfer the Garageband project with its several tracks as an audio file, you will upload the complete project as a single track to GarageBand. You cannot unmix it and split it again into tracks. You would have to save each track as a separate audio file, to upload it. An the midi tracks will have been turned into audio files.

Okay. When I originally set the question that was my approach I tried. For me the actual problem was to have an audiofile as an individual track to support my vocal trainings with iPhone. The linked guide solves my specific problem but does not support project work with both mobile and stand-alone GB in turns.

Now that I understand the whole story I properly understand you first answer 🙂
