Safari keeps giving "Web Content Quit Unexpectedly" since updating to 10.1

Question

For the past few days I&#x27;ve been having errors whenever I try to search for an image using Safari and Click on it to drag it to my desktop. I keep getting a "Safari Web Content Quit Unexpectedly" error.  (I can still download it by control clicking and &#x27;save image&#x27;).  In looking at my Update log, i see that Safari was updated on 3/27, which is right when this problem started.Anybody else having this issue? And how were they able to fix it?

Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. Then try Safari/History/Show History and delete all history items.  Quit/reopen Safari and test. You can also try try Safari/Clear History…. The down side is it clears all cookies. Doing this may cause some sites to no longer recognize your computer as one that has visited the web site. Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db and move it to the trash.Go to Safari Preferences/Extensions and turn all extensions off. Test. If okay, turn the extensions on one by one until you figure out what extension is causing the problem.Safari Corruption       See post by Linc DavisIf that doesn&#x27;t work, try running this program in your normal account , then copy and paste the output in a reply. Others have posted the same problem when trying to drag an image. Does Control - click/Save Image to Desktop work?Send Apple feedback. They won&#x27;t answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.Feedback

Thanks for all your suggestions (a few of which I hadn&#x27;t tried). Unfortunately nothing worked. Wasn&#x27;t the adblocker extension I have (only one I use). Wasn&#x27;t a cookie or cache issue as they are all zapped (and were before).  Again, the really odd thing is this only happened with the new update on the 27 (I&#x27;m running El Capitan if that matters). And only happens when I try to drag an image from Safari (the second I click on it I get the warning). No other time.Still get "Safari Web Content Quit Unexpectedly. As I mentioned in the initial question, control/click save image works and is the only way to save. I&#x27;ve sent the report multiple times so hopefully Apple will A) notice that, B) see how many people are posting about it and C) do something about it

Apple does not read these forums. Eric asked for an Etrecheck report and I agree with him--it could be the fastest way for us to see if there are any basic software issues that are hanging on.  I&#x27;ve seen many reports here of unexpected Safari quits and the majority of the time there is some software cause--adware; anti-virus; so-calling "cleaning/tune-up" apps--that were the cause.

Also post an Etrecheck report as requested of the original poster, who apparently ignored this excellent step in getting fast problem resolution here. http://etrecheck.com/The original thread is getting close to 2 months old and many helpers do not repsond to "tag-ons" because it is difficult to effectively help more than one person per thread. Imagine being sick and entering the doctor&#x27;s exam room only to find there are already two patients there and the doctor is trying to treat all three of you at the same time. Someone is going to get the wrong medicine. Very similar here.

Hi Allan,I really didn&#x27;t think about it because in the more than 20 years of owning Macs I have never, not once ever, received assistance of any use from these Apple boards. My post was more like thinking out loud. I could go ahead and start my own thread and that will do absolutely nothing, guaranteed, other than the usual "empty cache" and similar suggestions.At least it gave you an opportunity to promote this software, for whatever reason you feel the need to do so.

Safari for me too since the update. Constantly. But often it&#x27;s just sitting there idle. When Facebook is open it does it more often. I don&#x27;t think Safari likes the way it is coded, and vice versa.
