White screen after update to 10.12.4

After installing OSX 10.12.4 my macbookpro grinded to a halt. Only a white screen after reboot is visible.

- No safe mode

- no utilities, web or otherwise..

I found a similar discussion at I just updated to Sierra 10.12.4 My 2011 iMac starts to reboot with grey screen apple logo and progress bar fills in then system stops. Can't boot to safe mode

but no luck yet, it just doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Just found this info. The Apple tech did not have me do #1 and I know I had done it before when my other Mac went down. This might be helpful. Also there's a "step-by-step" video which I haven't had a chance to check out. My Mac is being service since yesterday.

Mac Will Not Start after macOS Sierra Update

This is a common problem with new installs, primarily on old machines. You are able to install macOS Sierra but your machine shows a grey/white screen when you try to start it up. Please follow the Steps below in order to resolve the issue.

  1. Restart your Mac and hold down Command, Option, P and R keys to reset the NVRAM
  2. Try Resetting the System Management Controller. Power down Mac, unplug all cables from your Mac, wait for several minutes and then try plugging the cables and start up the Mac
  3. Try to boot Mac in Safe Mode (Press the power button and hold down the shift key) and make sure you Mac has at least 9 GB of free space.
  4. To avoid any problems updating from El Capitan to macOS Sierra, remove all third-party Kexts and extensions
  5. Get rid of any anti-virus programs that you may have installed and lastly
  6. You will need to remove any PPTP VPN Software from your machine as Apple has removed the support in macOS Sierra
  7. Please take a look at our detailed post on startup issues related to macOS Sierra if you are still having challenges
  8. Check our Step-by-Step video to fix the Mac white screen issue.

Ran into the same exact problem yesterday. Called Apple Support and they ran attempts to recover but nothing helped so advised me to take it in to an Apple Store to restore from a disk. Said they would do it for free. Unfortunately no Apple Store in my area so dropped it off at an affiliate store. This problem has me nervous as well and don't understand an iOS update can cause a crash. Apple needs to seriously resolve this issue with Sierra Update 10.12.4 immediately.
