Air play won't work

Air play won't work

I can only get airplay to work via mirroring and not when I swipe to the second page. Iphone 7/ iPad pro running latest software with Apple tv 4 with latest software.

Any help appreciated.

When you select Apple TV from the second page of the Control Center, it enables basic AirPlay. Then, when you play a video, it should play on Apple TV, and not on the phone. I assume you know that you need to tap the arrow with circles icon at the bottom of that page in order to see the list of devices. This is new with iOS 10. It seemed to me before iosS X you simply tapped on airplay in control center since iOS 10 you have two options one on the first screen one of the second screen and I can't get them to play without mirroring.

It was previously one option, now basic airplay has been separated along with playback controls onto a second panel within control centre.

When you say you can't do it without mirroring, you will need to elaborate. Is this with all content or select apps? Is there an error when you try to use basic airplay or what exactly occurs?
