How long does it take to restore your iPod

I just this second restored my iPod and it took about a minute. I know this isn't much of a helpful post, but hey.

You are confusing the iPod software with the iTunes software.

The iPod software currently stands at version 1.1.1, and the iTunes at version 7.0.2.

I don't know what this means.

Restoring -- how can you tell it is happening? And how long should it take? (seems to be a popular question...)

I exchanged my Xmas ipod for another 'returned' ipod. When i connected this one and launched itunes, itunes said ipod had MAC stuff on it and I needed to do a restore. Clicked restore and waited for 20 minutes with itune website frozen and ipod flashing 'Do not discount'. Finally ended task on my PC to close itunes, but still 'do not disconnect' is flashing.

One post said to close itunes and then do a retore of the ipod -- how do I do that? All I know is working from the itunes site.

Or do I do a Windows hardware remove and try it all again?
