How to open a file transferred from Airdrop to iPhone with WhatsApp?

I already have WhatsApp installed on my iPhone. When I transfer a file (i.e. PDF, JPG, XLS, etc.) from my Mac to iPhone by Airdrop, a dropdown list will show on iPhone, titled "Airdrop open with....". In this dropdown list, I cannot find WhatsApp, in order to forward the same file to my contacts under WhatsApp. My questions are the following:

1. Is there anyway to add WhatsApp into this dropdown list?

2. If I click "Cancel" at the bottom of the dropdown list, is this case, the file has been really transferred to my iPhone and saved somewhere or it has not been transferred at all?

It seems that many people are having the same problems.

No. Its up to the individual App to add itself to the Airdrop list based on what file types they support. Whatsapp does not show up directly because while it can send the file, it cannot actually open many types of files.

The easiest thing to do, is to have a File Manager App where you can store the file, and from which you can send it via whatsapp to a recipient.

I find the appropriately named File Manager App to work pretty well for this.

Alternatively there is also Documents 5 by Readdle

If you click cancel, the file is discarded.
