Accessory not supported by iPhone

I have updated to iOS 10.3 on my iPhone 7 and my Lightning to 3.5mm/charging adaptor brings up the message in the title. It works for 1-2 min then stops with the message. Message is - This accessory is not supported by this iPhone

I use this in my car, it has Bluetooth for phone only and a phono input for music. As I also use the phone as my sat nav I need to have it charging while playing music. The only way to do this is with an adaptor that Apple do not make.

This set-up worked without issue with the previous OS.

I have 2 different adaptors and both have the same problem.

Anyone else seen this and is there a way around it?

Is there a supported way of charging the iPhone 7 at the same time as using the phono output?

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi

When using electronic accessories with your iPhone, ensure that they are either genuine Apple products or that they have been certified as Made for iPhone under the MFi program. Certified items come with the "Made for iPhone" logo on them and/or on their packaging.

Using uncertified or counterfeit accessories may damage your iPhone and/or adversely affect operation. Apple's warranty does not cover damage caused by use with a third party product that does not meet Apple's specifications.

Belkin Lightning Audio Charge Rockstar

Phone -> Belkin Lightning Splitter -> Charger -> Power

and

Phone -> Belkin Lightning Splitter -> Apple-supplied headphone adapter.

My splitters were working fine until the update.

Now I have to replace my simple lightning audio splitters with multiple (read clunky, difficult to manage and carry) adapters to support my headphones or car audio. Headphones that previously plugged directly into the phone and worked beautifully without any adapters, marketplace for accessories, and "THIS ACCESSORY IS NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PHONE" errors in all-caps when I plug in a device. At this point, the only Made for iPhone certified splitter is from Belkin. I verified this with an Apple chat.

I agree with the above. I just switched from Samsung to Iphone after my old phone was stolen, and I miss my old phone so deeply. I wish I could afford to break my contract, but I'm trapped for now. My new headphone converter works great, until the Iphone blocks it. Blocking my hardware appears to be just another way to try to force me to buy more apple stuff. So disappointing. This appears to be one of many scenarios where apple is acting extremely elitist. Ironic, since I cannot find anything for them to be elitist about. The Iphone is much more difficult to use than my old one, with more quirks, glitches, and as far as I can tell, no benefits to switching.

Strange to see this elitist behavior from apple when they have so much competition.

No one here works for Apple so you aren't seeing Apple be "elitist" whatever that means in your mind.

There are 161 companies that sell accessories that are certified Made for iPhone. If Apple is trying to force you to by their products they are doing a poor job of it. Who made your headphone converter and is it certified as MFi?
