system takes 120 gb on a 250 gb 2016 MacBook

hi , I have a problem on a new touchbar MacBook, that the system takes 120gb!! as all I have is 250 gb , it really a big issue. why would an OS take so much space anyway? please what do I do? tried to google it but don't seem to find any real solution. thanks in advance

I have latest Sierra

tried to run macbooster and clean my Mac, they cleaned only around 2gb.

ok I actually now found my solution.

downloaded omnidisksweeper. and discovered that the space is actually taken by files in the "library" folder.

so the issue was, that I think the Mac doesn't really display the space calculation right. or maybe they thought its right. anyway for me It was confusing.

so I had a large (80gb) files of some application I installed. and they were counted as "system", and not even that, were not counted in the "applications" or "documents" folder.

this perspective is really strange. I would like to just see clearly my files and how much are they.

thanks, hope it will help somebody else too

Hi,

You are far from the only one with this issue. I haven't heard a solution yet, but I believe I've read of someone having success with a reinstall, so you may want to consider that: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904
