Why can't I delete website data in iOS 10.3?
Certain website data sites can not be removed. Even after a reset they still remain. This only happened after updating to 10.3.

I found a solution and I originally posted it at Cookies won't delete on iOS. I found this thread has a lot of reviews and I will repost here.
I tested on both ios 11.1 beta 3 on my iphone 8 and 11.0.3 on my ipad.
I have this problem since ios 10 on iphone 5s. After I bought an iphone 8 recently and used the backup from the iphone 5s to restore, the "persistent" cookies migrated to the new device. I also bought an iPad Pro and used the backup from the phone to set it up, the "persistent" cookies migrated to the ipad as well.
All the operations and software are under windows. What you need to do is:
Step 1: Use iTunes or a third party software to make a backup of your device.
Step 2: Use a third party software (I used iMazing because it is the one I found that can edit the backup. This is not supposed to be an advertisement.) to edit the backup. To do this you first need to select the backup you made and click the edit button. Then you need to remove all the files in the editable backup under "File System/Apps/AppDomain-com.apple.mobilesafari/Library/WebKit/WebsiteData/WebSQL/ ". You will be able to see all the cookies that you can not delete at this location. I this the absolute path in the actual file system is /var/mobile/Application/com.apple.mobilesafari/Library/WebKit/WebsiteData/WebSQ L/.
Step 3: Usw iTunes or a third party software to restore the backup.
Note: The backup should not be encrypted.
The solution is quite technical, and I hope apple devs can fix this problem soon.
Definitely not fixed with 10.3.2, full update via iTunes and the previous cookies are still there.
I've switched to Firefox too but there is nothing to say this is successfully deleting the cookies, you just have to trust they are gone.
A lot of the persistent cookies in Safari show as 0 bytes but even the ones with data in don't seem to have any value with regards to remembering contents of shopping baskets etc, so not sure if they are actually doing anything?
There is definitely a serious issue with website data. Although I only have 4 persistent cookies, every so often a great number of previously deleted cookies jump back into the list. When deleted again they are removed from the list but obviously lingering around somewhere.
It's extremely frustrating that Apple have left this issue unresolved for so long...
I Agree. I have all toggles switched on for deleting in firefox so all appears to be good so far. the good thing is we have a 10.3.3 beta tester in this thread and I hope they stay in and keep us updated. Privacy is important but I have held off on a vpn until the issue is resolved. I don't have firefox synced from the iPad to the other devices at this time just in case.
I'm hoping that it will be fixed with the next version, but I'm still skeptical that it will be. Hopefully it is fixed like you said, but I hate that we'll have to wait like 2 months to find out for sure.
Even if I have to flood the feedback app I will make sure by the release of 10.3.3 this problem is known. It has went on far too long I've had the problem back when iOS 10.2 beta 2 came out. I can only speak for my devices that on my iPad, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 6 Plus the problem is currently nonexistent I will keep everybody in this forum updated with other beta releases.
After I installed 10.3.1 I started experiencing a problem of being unable to delete some of the sites listed on my website data page. I installed 10.3.2 a couple of days ago and I was hoping this update would solve the problem. It did not. There are three sites on my website data page I cannot delete. Two of them have 0 bytes and one has 72 KB. Please fix this Apple.
That's why I'm a little skeptical of them fixing this issue in 10.3.3 because it's been an ongoing issue for a while. I do hope they fix it. I mainly use my 7 Plus, but I also still have my 5s. My 7 Plus only has one cookie that won't delete, while my 5s has a lot that won't.
HI! I was having the same issue today that I noticed. Sites that were on my website data that did not need any more. Needless to say I'm a compulsive person that when I feel that I don't like something I have to work on it until I take care of it. So, I finally got rid of it. I don't know if i did it or it work by coincidence well... what is important is that I got it done. So here you go and I hope it works for you too! I went to settings, general> storage and cloud usage>Manage storage >safari >website data>Edit>press each website data that u would to remove>(-) or delete and voilà. 2nd choice same until you get to website data > scroll down to the red lettering >REMOVE ALL WEBSITE DATA and press on that and all the data will be removed. Then you go back and check the way you been doing to make sure it got deleted. If it does not work for you it means that, after all it worked for me as a coincidence when i up dated my ipad to the IOS10.3.2.
Good luck and if it worked for you please leave me a note and a $1.00 donation if you would like since I am unemployed and I could use it Badly. I would be happy to find out that it did. Thanks for reading and for trying my way.
Specifically 14F89 fixpack for 10.3.2. Just downloaded this fixpack about 10pm last night (23 May) . Immediately after install, cookie deletion on my iPhone 6s Plus returned to normal ... they way it used to work before. Problem has been resolved for me. Your experience may be different.
Yes, this current problem still persists. Once the new iOS 10.3.2 update was downloaded, seemed to work great for a while. Then, while clearing out history and then checking the advanced tab, there they are.......a list of websites growing. Not a huge deal to me except for some banking/credit card sites being stored on the phone. Even though the MB usage reads "0" I feel that there's something still there. And don't even waste your time trying a clean sweep/erase all data and setting up as a new iPhone. This will work at first, but then the same issue with the websites being stored in the phone.........sigh. I wonder if the new iPhone 7S/Plus or the "8" will have this issue in the fall. I've had a iPhone 6S Plus for 2 years now, been a great phone except for the quirks after these iOS updates. I still plan on purchasing a new iPhone this fall (not sure which model yet) but hopefully this will be fixed by then.
I have exactly the same issue, I'm running the latest iOS Public Beta 10.3.3. But I've had this issue for years, usually only with Google.com. It shows 0 bytes and when I'm trying to visit Google.com again it won't make this 0 byte cookie any bigger, it stays at 0 bytes.
It worries me that it won't be fixed in 10.3.3. I've read other post around the net that says it still isn't fixed. There's two reasons why it hasn't been fixed. Either Apple doesn't care or they can't fix it.
I think we are probably moving towards a time where you can't opt out of tracking cookies. Eventually, we will all have no privacy whatsoever. Big companies stand to gain by selling our data to government who then can exert control more easily.

Interestingly Apple isn't even commenting about this. Not impressed in the least
They certainly won't be commenting here. This is a user-to-user technical support forum. Apple is pretty clear about that in the Terms of Use to which we all agreed when we signed up.
I just discovered that on my iPad, which I use almost as much as my iPhone, there are none of these sites that won't delete. My iPad and iPhone were purchased at the same time and are running the same version (10.3.2).
Question for Drocmirage I am using and IPad when your explaining how to get ride of the left over from websites that want deleted there a step that I don't know how to do. Step where I should close safari before I close setting how do you get out of setting to go to safari without closing setting. Excuse my inexperience. Thanks.
