SONY DRX-830U and ITUNES

I picked up the new Sony DRX-830U DVD/CD drive and easily installed it to my PC. But for some reason, ITunes wont support CD play on it. I am able to play CDs thru other programs including Nero and Windows Media Player without problems. ITunes recognizes the drive and even pulls up the album info, but when I hit play it just scrolls down through the songs with no play.

I have the newest version of ITunes installed. Also, ITunes is still able to play CDs thru my original internal CD drive with no problems. Fortunately, I am able to burn ITunes playlists thru the new drive. It just wont play or import.

I googled it and was able to find that Im not alone in this:

Likely a firmware issue with the drive.

Not a good answer, but since other programs can use drive, use something else to rip the CDs to mp3 then import the mp3 into iTunes.

I dont have a problem importing, as I still have the original internal drive working. Im just trying to figure out how to use the new drive to play/import for me. I need a suitable replacement for the OG one. I have a feeling it will go bad on me some time soon (The old drive is already having trouble burning CDs). Help anyone???
