Facetime/iMessages authentication error

I can't add my Apple ID to either iMessages or Facetime on my iPhone. I can't log on to iMessages or FaceTime on my iPad and MacBook Pro either. Anyone any ideas how to fix this?

All the tips I found so far haven't worked.

iPhone 6s, iOS 10.3

Hi FelipeV,

the error message is the result of my attempt to log in using my Apple ID. When I enable FT or iMessage on the phone, it only shows my phone number.

It was working before. And again, I can't log into FT and iMessage on my MacBook/iPad Air/iPad mine 2 either. Same error message.

I'm not sure when it stopped working. I was hoping it would be working after the latest update of iOS to 10.3.1 but the issue percists.

Hi Sterling R,

thanks for the links. Unfortunately the information didn't help. I had seen this and other information already.

Here is what I have tried so far:

- turned off iMessage and FaceTime on the phone and restarted the phone

- logged out of iCloud on the phone and restarted the phone

- reset network settings

- reset privacy and location settings

- turned off iMessage and FaceTime, turned off phone, re-inserted SIM card

the issues remain.

When I turne on iMessage and FaceTime on the phone, only my phone number shows up under setting -> iMessage -> send&receive.

If push 'use your Apple ID for iMessage' I get an error message 'iMessage Activation An error occurred during activation. Try again'

In addition, I can't log into either iMessage or FaceTime on my MacBook Pro, iPad Air and iPad mini. The error message is the same as above.

I read in one of the posts that it might be an issue with my account on Apple server side.

Greetings, Dr_Mabuse.
It appears that you're having difficulty getting iMessage and FaceTime working on your iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro. I'll be happy to help.
Two-factor authentication for Apple ID -- If you're using Two-factor authentication for your Apple ID, refer to this article.
If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime -- If the issue is in regards to activating iMessage or FaceTime, the steps provided here will help.

If neither of these articles has helped resolve your issue, please provide the exact text of the message you're receiving.

Let me know how that goes and take care!
