KVS synchronize with completion handler failed on ios 10.3 update
After updating iPhone 6 to iOS 10.3, I get error message "KVS synchronizeWithCompletionHandler failed" after entering Apple ID as prompted. This step can be skipped, but phone says iCloud services may not be set up completely.
I understand that after updating your iPhone, you've received an error when trying to sign into iCloud. I'm happy to provide some help for this issue.
When you skip this option, you'll be able to sign in to iCloud again through the settings on your iPhone. For now, I would recommend skipping this step, then when your iPhone is at your Home screen you can open Settings > iCloud and finish the setup there.
If at that point you receive any errors, I would recommend testing this on a different network. If you are not already connected to Wi-Fi, do so under Settings > Wi-Fi and test this out. If you are on Wi-Fi already, then try a new network or try with Wi-Fi disabled.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!

Hi could you be more specific about where in settings to find the icloud bit to sign in after it didn't work because of that Kvs thing please? Mine says my name with Apple ID, icloud, iTunes & App Store at the very top of settings but below that I can't find anywhere that it's listed just on its own & I think going by that that it appears that I AM signed into icloud but I don't know how to be sure??
The iCloud options are in the first part of the settings on the top it will look like your name ads under it will say AppleID, iCloud, iTunes&App Store . there you fine the iCloud, iTunes & App Store, and Family sharing info. You will also se all your connected devices listed at the bottom. also the option to sign out .
Thanks. Had already solved this when you wrote. The problem had progressed and I could not download my emails.
So I called Apple Support. While on hold, talking to the 3rd person I was passed around to - and none of them had heard of this issue or knew what to do - I updated to 10.3.1. That apparently resolved the problems.
This is really frustrating. I have the same exact issue and all options refuse to work. What the **** is going on with Apple? I have been an Apple user since 2014 but my next phone is likely to switch to a Samsung.
Not sure if this is still an issue. I went to do a restore and got this message, so I proceeded to set it up as a new phone, then did a factory reset (as this will keep the 10.3.1 on the phone) then went through the setup process again but this time connected out to iCloud to do the actual restore.
A customer of mine had the same error when trying to setup he iPad and restoring from an iCloud backup. The backup was from iOS 9 and the iPad was iOS 10. We started over and set it up as new, and no error. She, also, had more than one Apple ID linked to that backup. Seemed like a compatibility issue.
