Preview 909.17 not rendering all PDF pages, only some rendered

When I open a PDF document in Preview 909.17, only page 1 & 10 are rendered. Pages 2-9, & 11-14 are not rendered.

The Following all correctly render the document.

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader DC
  • Foxit reader
  • Libre Office
  • Kindle
  • Dropbox Web APP running on FireFox or Safari

The issue is with Preview 909.17 on OS 10.12.4.

Preview 909.12 on OS 10.12.3 works.

This issue is in Preview, as well as other programs like Notability and PDF Expert that rely on OS X 10.12.4.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Is there a way of fixing Preview?

An example file that doesn't render in 10.12.4 is here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sgjynwsjjb3e8xk/problem-pdf.pdf?dl=0

Do a backup, preferable 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Quit Preview.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Remove the following. You may not find them all. Restart and test.

Containers/com.apple.Preview

Containers/com.apple.quicklook.ui.helper

Preferences/com.apple.Preview.LSSharedFileList.plist

Preferences/com.apple.Preview.SandboxedPersistentURLs.LSSharedFileList.plist

Saved Application State/com.apple.Preview.savedState
