Mac - iCloud Two Factor Authentication Code Input

When authenticating to manage my iCloud account from my Mac the device accepts the entered password and, as expected, requests the input of the authentication code sent to my mobile device. The code is received but the Mac does not present any input interface for the code itself. It indicates , 'Enter your password followed by the code sent to your trusted device', but if the code is added to the password the Mac indicates (as expected) that the password is incorrect. There is no additional screen input field for the code itself.

Has anybody else experienced this?

Many thanks.

You may need to upgrade OS X to 10.11 or later...

What are the system requirements for two-factor authentication?

For the best experience, you should make sure you meet the system requirements below on all the devices you use with your Apple ID:

  • iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 9 or later
  • Mac with OS X El Capitan or later and iTunes 12.3 or later
  • Apple Watch with watchOS 2 or later
  • Windows PC with iCloud for Windows v5 and iTunes 12.3.3 or later
