suggestd after mac os 10.12.4 update

I use a MacBook Pro 7,1 and I have been experiencing a very high CPU usage being dominated by a process called "suggestd" that began less than 2 weeks ago and seems to correlate with the most recent system update pushed by Apple. I can force quit the process in "Activity Monitor" and CPU usage decreases sharply with the computer cooling down quickly and high fan speed spinning down. However, the "suggestd" process frequently restarts automatically drastically increasing CPU usage, causing the computer to get very hot, and spin up the fan again.

Does anybody know what this "suggestd" process is an how to disable it? Is anyone experiencing the same problem?

I'm seeing a similar issue. It seems to be linked to Safari, specifically, pages that are running Flash-based applications. Killing those tabs returns the CPU to normal. This obviously isn't a fix, but it does point to cause.

Try using the 10.12.4 Combo Update:

Download macOS Sierra 10.12.4 Combo Update

The Combo Update is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update, so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before. It should preserve all your data and settings, but that said you should always have a backup.

Thanks but I had already followed this suggestion and cannot find specifically "suggestd" and there is no discussion on how to solve the issue. This process only started in the last 1-2 weeks. I am concerned that the system update has activated a new process but cannot find out how to disable that process.
