Numeric keyboard in Numbers app

Please report this to Apple at this link: http://www.apple.com/feedback/numbers_ios.html. I don't know of a workaround. I suspect they were focused on hardware keyboards and forgot about the flexibility of the iOS sort keyboard.

I went into an Apple store and asked an "expert". Essentially the answer was take it or leave it or wait for the next update. On another Apple community bulletin board it was suggeste that I work around the problm, which I have done. i am now using Excel. I've abandoned Numbers. Thanks for your incites into the problem.

Same thing for me. The numeric keypad is available in numbers on the iPhone however. I would agree with the other replies except for the need to switch to Excel. Please visit the feedback function under the three dots in Numbers on the iPad. I found a work around. A little third party keyboard app called Numpad in the App Store. Enable it In keyboard settings then you can change to it by holding the emoji key. Voila Number pad.

I noticed this as well. It makes entering data quite time consuming. I followed the link to report the problem. Hopefully it gets resolved quickly. For now, I'm using Excel instead, which has the downfall of not being able to sort ells when some are merged but the lack of the number pad irritates me enough to not use Apple's product. To the poster who suggested the number pad app work around: That's a great idea, but I shouldn't have to use a third party keyboard to use an app that has always allowed the very thing I want to do but no longer does because someone messed up.

Good news, but I agree with you that the date and time functions are virtually unusable. To enter a duration (hours, minutes or seconds) you need to enter a cumbersome formula with a "date/time value" or "time string" rather than just select a value from a menu. I hope this gets the same attention as the numeric keypad.

I agree. Date / Time / Duration were so easy with the last version.

And the correct keyboard was automatically selected based on the data type in the cell.

What's crazy is the iPhone version 3.1 still had a numeric keypad that you could get to,

But with 3.1.1 it was removed from the iPhone, yet added to the iPad ???

Apple is Bizarre...

I have this question also. Every time you move to another cell the keyboatrd reverts to alpha.

Thaks. Any hints on how to revert to previous version. I have another Ipad with the older version which i could use to transfer the earlier version from.

Hi. No hints on reverting. It's not possible. And you cannot copy an app from one device to another. The current Apple technology means that each device receives a version customized to the device.

numbers was easy to use,

now it's a pain.

It's back in today's update! Only numeric keypad though; still miss the tools for date & time input...

Only after upgrade to 3.1.1 that I find such a backwards move by apple. Anybody knows what is the logic behind this? How can we bring this to the attention to them for a correction?

This has been fixed in 3.1.1 for both the iPad & the iPhone.

App is usable again
