You cannot overcharge the phone. The phone will automatically stop charging when the device is fully charged. The power is on for the phone when it is charged. The power on the phone won't turn off unless you turn it off.
No. Nothing will happen to your iPhone. Apple has designed the charger so that they will not overcharge the battery even if you leave it plugged in all the time.
It has never been possible to overcharge any Apple lithium battery powered device. They all have, and always have had, built in over charge protection.
