deleted all sent msgs and only ment to delete a few can I retrieve them?

deleted all sent msgs and only ment to delete a few can I retrieve them? we are running Mail 1.3.11. I'm sure this is possible to retrieve these email but am not sure how to do this. I have not shut the Mail program down since deleting them so that may help out my chances. Thanks for any help on this.

800 mhz G4 Mac OS X (10.3.9)

If Mail is still running, we don't you look in the Trash folder to see if they are there? Most installations of Mail put deleted messages in the Trash. This is the Trash that is inside Mail (listed under the In box and other mailboxes to the side of the Mail window, not the Trash on your computer desktop).

sorry I didnt mention that earlier but I had checked on that and they were not in the Mail trash folder. normally when I just hit delete on the keyboard or delete from the taskbar they do go to the trash, but not this time...they just dissapeared.

What type of account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)? What are your Preferences > Accounts > Special Mailboxes > Trash settings?
