Widex hearing aid interference problem

I have a pair of Widex beyond hearing aids. I am using ios 10.3.2 beta version. When I talk on the phone, the sound seems to jump from ear to ear. I also have a problem with a clicking noise when I am connected to apps that have sound. Both of these problems are very annoying and I am about to give up on hearing aids. I also tried a pair of Oticon opn hearing aids and had the same problems. I started with the current version ios and was told that apple was working on an update for this problem. That's why I updated to the beta version. It doesn't seem that the problem has been addressed. Does anyone have any knowledge regarding this?

With the help of the Widex France technical support manager who called me today, I have been able to basically resolve things. The steps are:

  • update to iOS 11 (already that made an improvement)
  • turn off the hearing aids (battery drawer open)
  • have the phone forget the hearing aids, delete the Beyond application, shut down and restart the phone.
  • redo the pairing to the hearing aids in Settings > General > accessibility
    • turn the hearing aids back on at this point
    • when it asks if you want to pair, respond yes — for as many times as it asks
  • go to the App store and reinstall the Beyond application
  • Launch the Beyond application and let it find the hearing aids. If it says that there is a software update, let it install the software update (put in fresh batteries).

My results are:

  • Listening to music and phone calls is good.
  • Listening to podcasts is relatively good — just the occasional pop or noise.

Overall, things appear to be resolved — for now.

The discussion of beta software issues is not allowed on the public forum. If you are experiencing issues with beta software you need to report it with the app for the public beta. It may also be that the hearing aids are not compatible with the software at this time, and you will have to wait for the final version. Beta software is not for daily use devices since it inherently contains bugs.

I use Resound Lynx hearing aid with my iPhone 7 and have never experienced any issues. I have iOS 10.3.1. Again, I would not rely on testing external devices with beta software, since things they may be correcting in the software are not all addressed at once and can also break things that have been working.

That's fine, but once you installed the public beta, you restricted yourself to what could be discussed. There is no need to try and troubleshoot the issue with the public beta since things could change. You risk only making it worse. I still believe your best choice is to contact the hearing aid company. I've not had an issue with my hearing aid, but I have read and participated in one post regarding Oticon.

I've not installed iOS 11 yet, been way to busy this week. I've got it on my iPad, was able to do that while I was at work, but not on the phone. I paired just fine with the iPad.

When you say "these guys" are you referring to Apple? If so, it is Resound's responsibility to determine if their product works with the latest iOS. I'm going to see my audiologist in the morning for something, and I'll ask if she has received any complaints, and I intend to install iOS 11 on my phone tomorrow afternoon after work. I'll report back any findings.

I have a 5S and just upgraded to iOS 11 and am having just as many problems. I'm about to the point of setting my HAs to not connect to the bluetooth because it always drops and I can never tell what the person on the other end is saying. Music I can live with it dropping sometimes but phone calls it's defeating the whole purpose of connecting the bluetooth! I'm so frustrated.
