FaceTime answer icon on Mac missing

The incoming FaceTime call on my Mac rings and I can open the app but there's no icon to answer/reject the call. Any community suggestions? Thanks

Hi Robert,

I understand you are unable to Accept or Decline a FaceTime call on your Mac. This sounds like you may have FaceTime Notification set to none on your Mac. You can locate this setting under System Preferences > Notifications > FaceTime.

macOS Sierra: Notifications System Preferences

Please let us know if the issue persists, and thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

Cheers.

I wasn't quite right in my posing this question. Apologies. In fact, the issue is that when connected to an external monitor, even though mirroring on my Mac, the FaceTime app can't answer a call - it doesn't recognise an incoming call (I'm guessing it's because there's no camera on the monitor). I can call out on my Mac using its camera. That works. So, the answer is, I need to disconnect the external monitor if I want to answer any incoming call (which I can hear coming in on my iPhone and iPad). Thanks for spending some time thinking about my problem. I'd be happy to hear if you have a solution to me needing to unplug my external monitor to see/hear an incoming FaceTime call. Thank you.
