hide applications in applications folder mac

i have searched here and google.


i would like to hide most applications in applications folder because I have not used them so far. I don't want to delete them because i might need them later.


all suggestions appreciated.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

If what you want is a frequently used (Favorites) subset of Apps, then create a folder, and put Aliases for each of the Apps in that folder. (Finder -> File -> Make Alias)


Then drag that folder to your Dock and you have a nice set of favorites, without touching or worse moving the apps in the Applications folder (moving apps in the Applications folder has some rather nasty side-effects).


If you insist on hiding, then you will have to mess with the Terminal and use chflags to set the hidden flag.
