WIndows 10 Creators update & iCloud

I did a forced upgrade of Windows 10 Creators Update on a PC running iCloud 6.2 and Office 2016. All other updates up to date.

Totally broke iCloud and made the add in useless. I deleted iCloud and reinstalled and still no luck. You'd think MS might test for this before they release. Naaaaah. I rolled back with no issues.

I had this same problem initially and I've seen it before with previous updates. What worked for me was:

1. Redownload the latest iCloud for Windows.

2. Uninstall current iCloud

3. Reboot

4. Reinstall iCloud

5. Reboot (it makes you)

6. When iCloud comes up, UNCHECK sync of mail, contacts, and calendar, and apply.

7. Reboot

8. When iCloud comes up, CHECK sync of mail, contacts and calendar, and apply.

At that point, I saw the information being downloaded and I was back up and running on Outlook 2016 with iCloud.

I don't know if this works for everyone but this same little dance has worked for me more than once.

This procedure worked for me (in addition to steps mentioned explicitly in Middle Age Hack's post, my step #0 was to sign out of iCloud).

Given that this problem was known weeks before, it was reckless of Microsoft on Microsoft Update Tuesday of 9 May to offer the Creators Update to people with iCloud installed. Unfortunately that has been the history of the iCloud / Outlook relationship.

I don't know whether Apple or Microsoft is more responsible for this situation, but shame on both of them for how bad the situation has been, repeatedly.

For me this won't worked, but the trouble shooting in Win 10 solved my problem that Win 10 doesn't load the pics in Fotostream:

-Trouble shooting in Win 10 Crator update

.incoming connection -> something else

search for your icloud .exe files and running the trouble shooting one after the other::

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\icloudphotos.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\ApplePhotoStreams.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\iCloud.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\iCloudServices.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\iCloudWeb.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services \ApplePhotoStreamsDownloader.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\ApplePhotoStreams.exe

reboot

ccheck

The problem occurred again after the 13 June 2017 Windows updates. The solution posted here worked again, as I've detailed at Creators Update breaks iCloud sync to Outlook - Microsoft Community. But on one computer, where I'd done the update on logout from Windows, the problem didn't occur. For future Windows updates I'll try this approach to see if it is reproducible.

Didn't work for me

I followed the instructions exactly but no joy. The problem is when I tick the box to stop the sync of mail, contacts and calendar (step 6), it allows me to untick it but on Apply it automatically re-ticks it.

My Outlook has gone backwards now in that the navigation pane on the left is empty when I go in to Calendars or Contacts and the right hand pane continues to show emails.

I have tried removing the icloud add-in and then re-installing it but no joy.

This happened to me the last time Micro**** did a major update and I had to wait around 4-5 months before the problem was fixed.

Quite frankly, I am well hacked off with both Micro**** and Apple - why do these companies not talk to each other and why don't they test properly?????

But I do know one thing! My iPhone contract has only 1 more year to run. And my laptop is due for an upgrade. I am NEVER buying a Windows product or Apple iPhone again!!! For me, the future is Linux and an Android phone!

I have the same issue on a number of HP machines where they have Win10 Creators on them. Whe trying to install the latest version of iCloud it starts to install then gets to a point where you get an iCloud dialogue box stating "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." It thern proceeds with a rollback with the "iCloud for Windows Installer error". I guess this, in reality, means that Apple's iCloud software needs to be updated. Until they do it we are left with broken software. :-(

I've tried to rollback from Win10 Creators on two of these machines, then re-install iCloud - and even that no longer works.

I spent my whole career in software development - I know the importance of testing; Apple should know it also! I was on the phone to Apple Support for over 1 hour whilst we tried different things. At the end of that it did not work and the response is it is a Microsoft problem. As much as I hate Microsoft, it is not their problem - IT IS AN APPLE PROBLEM!!! Apple, if you read this - TEST YOUR SOFTWARE!!!! We users should not just have to accept your shoddy development!

I wasted an evening trying to get my icloud calendar back after the unsolicited Win10 Creator update, plus a couple of other things (non-Apple) and was ready to scream. Anyway, I rolled back, off Win 10 Creator, and got my icloud calendar and everything else back. This is the first time I've ever had to roll back a Windows update, but dang, it was frustrating.
