i need to change my apple email password.

  1. ok, since i am on an apple help website, i assumed the discussion is about apple email, *@icloud.com
  2. if you go back to the initial poster's question, i would like to know "how do i change my password for *@icloud.com
  3. apple's managed world is helpful if you want to use apple's apps. however, the macbook apple email package makes a mess of emails where i make different comments to different recipients. therefore, i cannot use it for work and i am trying to setup a 'normal' email app where i have to input the 'normal' email server parameters and it will keep my emails separate and not try to organize them into threads.
  4. therefore, i need to reset my icloud email password. i changed my appleid password, but apparently this is not the same as my email password. but when i try to get into my email on my mac, it lets me login with my updated appleid, but nowhere can i change my email password.

so, i see now that you were answering a generic question and perhaps there is a simple place on an apple website that will let me change my email password, but where the @#$% is it?

thanks!

We can't assume what email you are talking about. You can set up basically any email provider in Mail, not only iCloud email.

There is no email password to change for iCloud email. Your Apple ID is used to enable any iCloud service. In order to set up iCloud email on a computer, you only need to sign into your Apple ID and enable the Mail checkbox. If you have problems with your account, open System Preferences and click on the iCloud pane. Sign out of iCloud completely. Then, sign back into iCloud and re-enable all features you were using before.
