Login Screen Inverted Colors

Okay - perhaps the Apple community can shed some light on this one. The colors during the system startup and login screens are inverted, but not after logging in. Issuing ctrl-opt-cmd-8 during startup or at login screen has no effect. I've reinitialized the drive and installed a fresh OS (it needed it anyways), which did not fix the problem.

First try a PRAM reset. (Hold down CMD-Option-P-R while booting until the tone has sounded three times).

When you are logged in and have the correct colors, look in the "Seeing" pane of "Universal Access" System Preference. It should be set to "Black on White". If it is "White on Black", you have a hardware problem. Are you using a DVI to ADC adapter? They sometimes cause video inversion. Unplugging all cables from the adapter for 30 minutes will sometime fix it.
