Depending on what computer or iDevice, or services you've been using
there are a few things you could do. You may read this & see if it helps:
iCloud: Change iCloud feature settings - Apple Support
You can change which iCloud features you're using on any of your devices
by turning features on or off. You can also turn off iCloud completely.

You can also change the iCloud password if you may have shared it or
think it may have been compromised by some other of your actions.

Regularly change your iCloud password to protect the privacy of your
information stored in iCloud.
Visit/login iCloud site to see your account options.
If you've used same login or email as AppleID you may have other options.

When I was going to set up an iPad Mini given to me, any email address
would start this, that isn't the problem; the AppleID and your tie-in to
any other products is nearly automatic... IF you set up by these rules.
{So after twice choosing to set up this iPad Mini and finding a pile of stuff
that I didn't really want, or do with the iPad: It's wiped clean + back in box.}

I Did not set up an xxx@icloud.com as my Apple ID or as my email address. My understanding is that I needed to use the iCloud address to be able to sync my iMac, iPad and ipad Air. Regarding data currently stored in iCloud Drive, I don't care if this goes away.
More information would help. Are you currently syncing with iCloud? Have you tried signing out of iCloud and back in? Do you want to delete all data synced to iCloud?
Your regular Apple ID will allow you to sync. There is no need to use an @iCloud.com ID.
