iOS 10.3.1 update, "error deleting record" after iCloud sign-in step

This was all performed while connected to my MBP through iTunes, downloaded through iTunes, and run through iTunes for my iPad2 mini Retina....

Update was successful (mostly) but the iPad goes into a loop that you cannot break out of if you follow the prompts. So, once the update is complete the iOS asks you to input your iCloud credentials and then attempts to update the login. However, after spinning for a couple minutes a popup dialog box "Error deleting record" is displayed. At which point you have only "OK" as a choice which then brings you right back to inputing credentials to login / update iCloud information....which, well you get the idea, now you are stuck in a loop.

The only "fix" I can determine is to break the sign-in by selecting "skip this step" at the bottom of the iCloud login screen.

While this seems to work and brought me to my home page on the iPad, I don't really know what caused it to fail within the update. I have gone to the iCloud settings and all my info appears to be correct (and working); so I think this is may just be a glitch in the iOS 10.3.1 installation process and possibly only on iPad2 (my iPhone 7 worked just fine).

Same experience with iPad. I short circuited the error loop by selecting the 'skip' option. Then, tested whether the iCloud connection was working by making a test calendar entry from another device. This was immediately reflected on the iPad, so the iCloud link appears to be working normally, and perhaps this 'glitch' affects only the conclusion of the update. But it is annoying, so I hope Apple will (1) immediately acknowledge the error, and state confirm it has any effect, and (2) fix it promptly for the next update.

A glitch you say? LOL Do you write code? "glitch" is a word we use to nicely say I messed up something in the code but I'm not sure what yet.

I'm having the same problem on my iPad Pro.

Any idea on when this issue will be corrected or what we are supposed to do when we get this error?

If I select "skip this step" how do I determine if the "icloud" is working properly? Do you know which record it is having trouble deleting?

I already have issue's with itunes saying my device has never been backed up to the cloud, yet when I logon to icloud.com using my pc I'm shown that my device has a current backup?

So to just say this is a glitch causes me concern as things already don't work properly.

Thanks in advance.

If it helps at all, I had this issue when I updated my iPhone 7 plus. After the error message, I attempted to erase and reset my phone which then my phone was telling me there were no backups when I went to restore from the cloud. Eventually Apple support helped me get my backup back on my phone, although now I'm running the updated iOS. They told me it was a glitch and the work around was setting my phone as new and then erasing and restoring again. For some reason it worked when I did it with them, although I had tried the same thing with no luck and my phone kept asking for my old passcode which it then couldn't verify. I'm just hoping there's no after affects of this "glitch".
