Help me with iMovie

Why are the speed, noise reduction, and equalizer, volume, and stabilization icons disabled? I can not change the speed of the video, how I do ?

I have MacOS Sierra 10.12.3

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012)

If it didn't work then your iMovie is not functioning properly. Try restarting your computer and then relaunching iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys, and then selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears.

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and see if that resolves it.

Finally, you can try opening iMovie in a new or different user account. You can use the guest account on your Mac for this purpose, or go to your system preferences to create a new account.

Hope this helps.

The buttons will not become activated unless there is a selected clip in which the buttons are relevant. For example, if you select a still clip, there is no sound and no movement (speed) and nothing to stabilize, so those buttons will be grayed out. But the buttons should become activated if you select a video clip with sound. If it still won't work, then the next step would be to do a re-download of iMovie. Or, you could take your computer to an Apple store and talk to an expert at the genius bar.

You can set a duration of faster than one second for a photo, in the iMovie preferences -- say, .03 seconds. You need to do that before creating the project. Otherwise, a duration of .1 second is as fast a duration as can be assigned to a photo in iMovie from within a project that has already been opened. That's still pretty fast -- time-lapse photography style speed. But if you want faster than .1, set your faster preference in iMovie/Preferences, and then create a new project to drag your photos into. I am not sure that a faster than .1 second duration will carry over into the project, but you can try it.
