I had the same problem with my iPhone, it the first I got an error message “Hone button must be repaired” some thing like that, any why it was working for some days after that, then it stop clicking, then I bring it to Apple and they repaird it by warranty, it has worked again for a month, and again the same problem... on last week I bring the phone to apple and they just changed it by a new one! Thanks Apple aapl
Hi Courtney, I tried restoring to factory settings in the butt and still didn't work. Restore a back up and it still didn't work for the button. The touch ID still works totally normally but there is no haptic feel for the home button. I never dropped my phone or had any damage so I'm not quite sure what's going on.
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are having an issue with the haptic feature on your iPhone. I know how important it is to have your phone working the way you want, and I'm here to help.
One thing you could do is to rule out a software issue. You do this by making a backup of your content, then restoring the iOS using the latest version iTunes. If the issue is caused by software this will resolve it.
1. How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
2. Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings
Note: I would like for you to test the iPhone without restoring the backup. Restoring from the backup can place the same issue back on the iPhone.
Let me know if this helps.
Have a great day!
Great question,
Once you have tested the issue without the backup, please restore your iPhone content and then test to make sure your phone is working correctly.
If you are still having issues, please let us know.
Have a great day!
It's seems same my problem, the touch ID is working fine and the home button not responding, I have updated my iPhone to the 10.3.1 OTA while i am on travel. and as per apple support and service provider says my phone effected by liquid damages and not eligible for warranty coverage . and the funny thing the LCI has not been triggered and now my iPhone work back to normal after DFU restore to 10.3.2. But now lost the water resistant seal due internal inspection of the device by service provider.
So you have an iPhone 7?? How do they claim water damage??! That is insane. My phone has gotten wet but nothing even close to what the advertise as its capabilities! That's completely ridiculous!!! I have yet to receive an answer or resolution to this issue. Makes we want to skip on these apple products after years of loyalty. Very frustrating.
Hey i'm from Indonesia, as you know Indonesia doesn't have any apple certified repair in here. So we decided to repair our iphone to 3rd party repair centre.
And the problem is, my iphone have same trouble as you. Touch id work fine but the home button not clicking. So i depend on my assistive touch.
I buyed my iphone 7 on december. And On early May i have this issue...
If i can't repair this because i must go to certified Apple repair overseas just to replace my home button, what should i do now???
This makes non sense, i using iphone for third years from iphone 5s. And now this is happen?
So my mistake then to change my iphone 6s to iphone 7. Maybe another option of android phone is better. Feel sad.
I have the same issue. Then my battery died and when I charged it and turned it back on it worked again. Then the haptic feedback stopped working again a week later so I turned it off and on and it worked again. Don't know why but I got be software.
After dropping mine in a pool, everything still worked. Later in the day I noticed the home button was acting funny then stopped all together working. I **** the phone off and let it sit for about 12 hours and now everything is fine. I guess water somehow still messed with the sensor in the home button and you have to completely let it dry out before it will work correctly after submerging it. Anyways a day later and I'm enjoying my phone with out damage!
Same thing happened to my iPhone 7, The only thing I've been able to do is to turn on the AssistiveTouch to use as the home button, but that's pretty much it, please let me know if anyone has the answer to solve this problem.
Mine did this too, I got on here and read some reviews of this being a comment problem when a iPhone 7 or plus gets wet or submerged. Seems like the homebutton of sensor is real touch in water. Once you submerge it it's best to shut off phone for about 12 hours to let it dry out. I put mine in front of a fan all night on a angle so that if any water or moisture was inside it would run out the speaker and charging holes.when I woke I powered on my phone and it was completely fine.
So, I went into the pool with my phone everything was fine and then my phone died; it was off for about an hour then I decided to put in on charge in which it powered on then the homekey started glitching and powering off and on, then it gave me the virtual button and the homekeyjust went unresponsive. So I immediately turned the phone off to let it dry out overnight, when I turned it on in the morning, I had the same issue, homekey vibrates a little when pressed then it goes unresponsive. So again, I powered my phone off to dry out more for the rest of the day and this time the homekey is completely unresponsive, it seems to be a waterline across my screen and when I press volume down once, it goes down a few knotches; So far those are the only problems. Can someone be of assistance. Is this it for my homekey? I'm shook, sisters. Help.
I have the same issue. My phone went in less than 3 ft of water for less the 30 minutes. I charged it hours later and now the home button won't return the phone to the home screen. What's next? Do I use assisted touch for the life of the phone now or spend 350 to have apple replace the button?
I have made a photo with wet hand. Touched the home button with wet finger. Since than it vibrates out of control. Madness.... Apple is going underwater with not only the quality of their products but also with the support. I'm highly disappointed:/
I took my phone in on Thursday (it is now Sunday morning) and they replaced my screen. On Saturday morning the button stopped working again. I was told to reset my phone if it happened again. I did and it worked, temporarily. Now it isn't working... again...
