iPhoto events folder missing

After uploading all my photos to icloud photo library there was at first an iPhoto events folder in Sidebar, but then it suddenly disappeared. I can't find it on the icloud photo page, either. It seems that all my photos are still there en masse. But all my events are missing. If there is a way to fix this? Thank you in advance. And sorry for my English.

Has the sync with iCloud already finished, or are you still seeing a progress bar in the Photos > Preferences > iCloud? if you are still seeing a progress bar, just wait. Check the status of your library in Photos for macOS - Apple Support

if there is no longer a progress bar and iCloud Photo Library says "Updated just now", the albums may have vanished due to a bug.

This happened to my iCloud Photo Library as well. Nearly all albums and folders vanished, after I enabled iCloud Photo Library first on my Mac and then on my iPad. When the iPad started to sync, it deleted the albums on my Mac.

If that is what happened to you too, the only way to restore the albums will be to restore the Photos Library from your last Time Machine backup you made, before you enabled iCloud Photo Library and the albums vanished.

Thank you for reply.

Sync on my macbook (with el capitan) has finished. Macbook photo library was in fact the source for upload. Then I turned it on for my mac mini (sierra), the library there was empty at that moment. Right away iPhoto events folder has disappeared from "primary" macbook photo library. On mac mini sync with iCloud is still in progress. Anyway there is no iPhoto events folder on iCloud web page.

That is indeed disappointing. And there is no official fix provided to restore the albums and folders. Either revert to the version of the library you had before you started the sync by restoring your library from a Time Machine backup, or recreate the iPhoto Event folder manually and the other albums as well.

Some other users reported that the iPhoto Events folder vanished, if the folder has been moved, when syncing with other devices. But I cannot find a link to these older posts just now.

First of all thank you for help!

Now I prefer to do it manually. I guess icloud library can rearrange my albums once again even after restoring from my time machine backup. The main problem is that some iphoto events and photo app albums vanished. But all photos seem to be there. And I try to be on the bright side. I'll take this occasion to re-organise my photo collection better which doesn't mean we should take it for granted especially as paid users.

But immediately after beginning of sync process all my regular albums disappeared. And all my smart albums became zero inside.

And you did not enable iCloud Photo Library on any other device, after you started the iCloud Photo Library on you Mac? I never had that happen. As long as I waited for all other devices to sync with iCloud before I enabled it on a Mac, the albums and smart albums stayed. This is a new aspect of the problem. You may want to contact Apple Support about this. The looks like a new bug.

Do your smart albums on the Sierra Mac use any rules that cannot be reproduced on El Capitan, for example use the rule "Photo is Depth effect"?

I did enable iCloud Photo Library on just one MacBook pro (with El Capitan) where the source library has been restored. The rule was the same for all smart albums: collect all photos from particular album. While making smart albums I turned sync off. As soon as I turned it on again all my regular albums disappeared. Only smart albums were visible. But they had just nothing inside of them.
