I've recently been sent some footage that according to VLC is in AVdh. On Googling this, it appears to be an Avid codec. I have installed the Avid LE codecs and the file does now open in Quicktime after conversion. However if I try and import it into FCP X or transcode it in Compressor it plays with a green screen. It looks like the GPU may be running into issues. Has anyone else had this problem?

That worked pretty well. I know have something I can edit with. One question is there a way I can up the quality of the ProRes encoding? Ideally I was hoping I could transcode to ProRes 444.

What are the computer specs including graphics capabilities?
That should be more than adequate.
Try selecting the files in the Finder, right-clicking and using Services > Encode Selected Files. In the menu select Apple ProRes.
I don't think you can change the OS option. If it doesn't work in Compressor or MPEG Streamclip I don't know what exactly lee you can do. Are the files 3-4K that you want for go to 4x4?
