How can i download the facebook messenger for iphone4

There is a very easy way to do this. You will require another device which is a newer one. What you have to do is:

1. sign in to your Apple ID with the other newer device.

2. Download Facebook messanger with that new device.

3. Delete it from that device. Now the app will be in your cloud.

4. On your iPhone 4 search for ace book messenger.

5. Click download and it will ask you if you want to download an older version of this app. Click download and wait for it to finish!!

6. Hope this helps! This work with all other apps that will have an older version of it

This is what I define as a NON-ANSWER! A person with a fully functional iPhone 4 should be able to access the older versions of apps & Apple should not only be willing to grant access to apps that work with their older phones, they should in fact, encourage us to do so! Basically this attitude insinuates that people throw away a perfectly good phone, or else that customer can & will be thrown away- BY Apple. Shameful the waste & all for greed

It's actually not up to Apple to provide the older versions. Some developers will make them available, some don't. Apple provides a method, as noted by Zack.d to download those older versions if the developer makes it available. You don't even need a newer iOS device. Any computer running iTunes will work.

iPhone 4 cannot be updated beyond iOS 7.1.2.

If you wish to use apps that require iOS 8 or newer (including Messenger by Facebook), then you will need a newer model of iPhone.

Great response & work-around. I've used this method before myself but it shouldn't have to be this way. What about the ones who don't have access to another, newer phone?
