If you see Error 3194, Error 17, or 'This device isn't eligible for the requested build' in iTunes - Apple Support

That's usually cause by antivirus or firewall software that's interfering with the update process, or because the machine being used was previously used to attempt to jailbreak or hack an iOS device.

I kept getting error code 3196 when connected via USB or "not connected to the internet" when trying to update via Wi-Fi, when in fact I was connected. None of the "fixes" made sense as I had never had this problem before. Just for the heck of it I tried unplugging and repowering my router/modem, lo and behold all is well again. I've had this sort of thing happen before, i.e., have an app not see connection and yet be connected, POR, the WD-40/Duct Tape of the digital world. anyway, I hope this helps someone with this same 3169 issue. BTW I am running Win 10
