Workout Apple Watch Series 2 and interval training

I was wondering if there is any way to do interval training, HIIT or Tabata, on the Workout app that comes with the Apple Watch Series 2 (with no iPhone present). I was looking into third party apps, but from what I understand they over ride the Workout App and don't give heart rate. Thanks, I

Hi

The built-in Workout app does not support recording interval training workouts.

Third-party apps that you may wish to consider include, for example:

Intervals

  • "Intervals is the fastest growing interval timer for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch."
  • "Intervals is an easy to use and modern iOS 10 and watchOS 3 interval timer for HIIT, Tabata, and all interval workouts."
  • "You'll love using this carefully crafted app to guide you through any type of interval workout, including running"

Only one workout app - whether the built-in Workout app or a third-party app - can be used to record any given workout.

Workouts that are recorded via the Intervals app count towards your Activity app goals on Apple Watch:

"Workouts contribute to the Apple Watch Activity Rings

Workouts are saved to the Apple Activity and Health Apps"
