Thunderbolt to HDMI not working on new MacBook Air

I just bought a new MacBook Air and my thunderbolt to HDMI cable is not registering on it. It works no problem on my old MacBook Pro, but on my Air it does not. It does not even do the quick black screen to show that it has registered as being connected. Any suggestions? Thank you for your help!

Hi,

In System Preferences >Displays > Arrangement > turn Mirroring on or off, whichever it wasn't set at.

Try resetting the NVRAM: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063.

If no luck change Mirroring back to what it was before and reset NVRAM again.
