At some point in the last several months, Safari started to only allow me to save bookmarks to my Bookmark Favorites folder, and not to the 'general' bookmarks area. When I attempt to save a site, the hierarchy only goes up to the Favorites folder and not the general Bookmarks Menu. Has anyone else run into this? Any thoughts on a fix?

Thanks for the response. My problem is that when I get to your first screen shot, my only options in the pull down menu are is either Favorites or sub-folders of the Favorites section. It never gives me the choice to go to higher in the hierarchy to the Bookmarks Menu. Eric's way at least gets me there in another way.

Hover your cursor over the left side of the URL bar until you see a + sign with a circle around it. Click and hold that to get a contextual menu that gives you more choices.
You can add Bookmark in this way also .
Or the way Eric suggested .
