How can I delete a text message from just 1 device

I have an iPad and an iPhone. Text messages appear on both. I am running out of space on my iPad, so I want to delete the text messages on it without affecting the messages on my iPhone; however, if possible, I would like to continue to receive new text messages on both. Is that possible to do? If so, how?

My phone has iOS 10.3.1. My iPad has 10.3.

Actually, you can only remove messages from a single device at a time,

Deletions are not synced between devices by iCloud or any other Apple service. If you don't change your "reachable at settings, receiving new messages will not be affected.
