Your iTunes purchases can be present in your library or visible as a cloud link which can be used to stream or download them. In addition you may optionally hide past purchases so that the cloud links don't show. If you get the hide prompt when you try to remove something from the library then you're looking at the cloud link, so there is no space gained if you hide it. If you had the remove download prompt then that would free up space.

See Hide and unhide iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store purchases - Apple Support for details.

You could do a quick visual inspection of your Movies and TV Shows folders to make sure there are no files in there that are not currently connected to the library.

Just to be clear, you followed these steps:

User uploaded file

You do not get this (or a similar message):

User uploaded file

But you get the HIDE message?

If that is the case. I am getting the desired result (an option to delete), but you are not. That suggests to me that your iTunes application may be corrupt and you might try a reinstall of the OSX.

But first I will try to get some assistance, but be advised it may require some time. Wait 24 hours before any reinstall.

Ciao.

I think you are following this process:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201322

This will not allow you to delete TV shows.

Open the iTunes application (From your applications folder)

Look for a selection box that allows you to choose MUSIC, MOVIES, TV SHOWS and PODCASTS.

Select TV SHOWS.

The display should show all of your TV shows (unless you have hidden them)

Click on the ones you want to delete with the DELETE key.

Then you should get the affirmation message that I posted earlier and select the "Delete TV Show' button.

Ciao.
