why is my apple ID password not working for icloud account in preferences?
Hello,
this issue has been bugging me for 3 years now.
When I first bought this mac I signed up to icloud with a different email to what I use these days on my mac (the last 2 years).
the old email was a yahoo account, I now use gmail.
Even with continually upgrading my operating system now to sierra just today, the problem persists, on the new sign in screen it asked me to set up icloud, itunes etc by entering Apple ID password, Sierra was displaying my old yahoo email for that apple ID account. I cant seem to change this even when I try by going to itunes and logging into my apple account and updating my email to the gmail account which I did 2 years ago.
I can log in to the apple forum, icloud.com, itunes and make purchases, and my icloud is working correctly with notepad and safari and calender in terms of updating information.
It`s only this icloud preferences dialog that gives me issues and my icloud account in preferences and on successive upgrades which always shows the old yahoo account and wrong password message. Thats really annoying and I want to fix it.
This is the preferences dialog showing the old yahoo account still intact after upgrading to Sierra from El Capitan.
Here when I click "account details" I get an error from the login attempt..Ive attempted this for at least 2 years with the same results each time.
Here I am able to log in to the icloud.com platform...with my gmail ID and password.
Here I am able to log in to itunes and can make purchases either here or via the app store on my mac or ipad.
anyway, its frustrating because I cant get rid of that old yahoo account in my preferences or log in to the account details from there. seems that prefs dialog is not linked to the same account database information as itunes,icloud.com and the app store.
