horizontal flickering lines MBP late 2015

Hi,

I've recently noticed a problem with my Thunderbolt Display,

When I work with my MBP 13" with the lid open everything is working fine, but when I close the lid I'm starting to see flickering horizontal lines (black and white lines).

I'm running Mac OS Sierra and the latest Thunderbolt Display firmware.

I've also tried to switch to a different ThunderPort but it did not help.

Does any one know what can I do about this situation ?

I've uploaded a youtube video to demonstrate : https://youtu.be/euATR7hWG_g

Hey Alex,

First of all, thank you for your response,

I've gone over the links and I did every thing that seems relevant to my situation, but none of theme really helped.

I've tried to :

  • perform an SMC reset.
  • perform an NVRAM reset.
  • I've disconnected my ThunderBolt Display from every thing including the AC.
  • I've tried to switch to another ThunderBolt ports on my Mac.
  • and I even completely reinstalled macOS, just in case that was an software problem.

and after all of this, I'm still seeing flickering white lines on my ThunderBolt Display while the MacBook lid is closed.

the funny thing is the line appears only where there is a high frame rate, like in this picture I've added of a 4K video on YouTube

Can it be a hardware problem on my Mac or my ThunderBolt Display ?

Hey omryno1,

If I understand correctly, you are seeing flickering lines on your external display when you use closed-display mode with your MacBook Pro. I would recommend you read this article and use it to help troubleshoot the issue. I would recommend you read these articles and use them to help troubleshoot the issue.
